Westfield Spring Fling

Posted in Propaganda on April 29, 2008 by thestaticjacks

The Westfield street festival, The Spring Fling, took place yesterday (sunday, april 27). We played for something like 40 minutes… unfortunately had to play Light Show twice because the people running the stage wanted to extend the set. Which is not to say that we dont like Light Show, but we do have an idea of what our sets are supposed to be before we go on, and playing the first song twice is not generally in there, though we’ve done it before. As a joke. So it goes.

On the whole, we didnt think we played very well, but the people seemed to enjoy it, and thats generally what matters in the end.

Our review: Lets put it this way…we were confident in the quality of our show. Smoosh played an awesome set, and TPC was fuckin incredible.

This is to make sure the following message stays at the top of the info list:

Our Bowery Ballroom show with Tokyo Police Club and Smoosh is this Sunday, 4/20. As of right now, it is sold out, but there should be some tickets on stubhub.com or somewhere like that.

Television

Posted in Propaganda on April 9, 2008 by thestaticjacks

On Sunday, April 6, TSJ’s own “Northern Bank” could be heard on the show ‘Zoey 101′. That means that, at one time, approximately 7-8 million people were listening to the Static Jacks, which we think is pretty cool. Keep looking for songs off the Sonny Halliday EP to appear on Nickelodeon in the future, for they shall.

We have a number of new videos on youtube thanks to G-Rock Radio, who featured us on their program G-Rock Rising with Erin Vogt. We did an interview and played “Light Show” and “Wine Cellar” acoustically.

This Wednesday, March 19th, we’ll be going in to record our spot on 106.3 G-rock radio. We’ll be doing two songs acoustically and probably answering questions. At this point for songs we’re thinking “Light Show” and “Wine Cellar”. We’ll let you know when its going on air when we find out.

Crash Mansion cancelled / Greenhouse residency created

Posted in Propaganda on March 3, 2008 by thestaticjacks

There were some problems with the Crash Mansion show scheduled for 3/1, so its going to be rescheduled. Instead we played a guerrilla show here in Westfield in a greenhouse at Williams Nursery. A bunch of people came and everybody seemed to have a great time breakin it down and singing along.

There should be more of these greenhouse shows on the way. Perhaps next time we will give more than 3 hours notice for those planning on coming.

Though we just have basic information right now, we thought we’d let you know that TSJ will be appearing on 106.3 G-Rock Radio as well as Monmouth Radio within the next 2 months or so. We’ll probably be playing some acoustic songs and answering some questions, so we’ll let you know when to tune in.

Relix Magazine Review

Posted in Propaganda on December 23, 2007 by thestaticjacks

Relix Magazine chose to review “The Waltz” as one of its top picks of the month. They had this to say:

“The Static Jacks are like The Strokes with a whole lot more twang and soul. This quintet of 17-year olds possess the same charming mix of tender innocence and raw sexual energy that had Mrs. Robinson hooked in The Graduate. “The Waltz” gives you a taste of how much fun it is to look into the adult world with a youthful heart.”

If youd like to see it for yourself and have a listen whilst reading, heres the link:

http://www.relix.com/Features/OurStage/December_19_2007_200712192654.html

it might only be available for a limited time though, so if you are from the future and are reading this, you probably wont be able to see it in your futureworld.

‘The Waltz’ on Myspace

“The Waltz” is now full play on the myspace, rather than just a sample. Enjoy.

The Knitting Factory show on the 23rd was amazing. The turnout was approximately 350 people. We played to a packed house of fans and strangers alike, and everyone seemed to have an ultra-fun time. Special thanks to Lido Beach and Trikuti for giving us the opportunity to perform there with them.

Folio

So the Velvet Underground plan didn’t quite play out, so I (Ian) performed four songs, accompanying myself on piano.

1) The Office theme

2) Details of the War - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

3) Kings Crossing - Elliot Smith

4) Ocean of Noise - Arcade Fire

Not sure how it went, but it was fun nonetheless.

Alas, the VU must wait for another day.

Velvet Underground

Posted in Propaganda on October 31, 2007 by thestaticjacks

At the Folio coffeehouse this Friday, due to an absence of Will on guitar, we’re thinking of acoustically covering some Velvet Underground songs. The list is currently:

1) Femme Fatale

2) Oh! Sweet Nothin’

3) After Hours

The night promises to be outlandishly chill. If you live here, or near here, you should come. Its at Westfield High School. The night starts at 6:30, we have no idea when we are playing as of now.
